Highlander Student Media (HSM) has been a major part of student involvement that dates all the way back to 1910. It has since expanded to six different organizations that continuously evolve. Highlander Student Media serves as a platform for students to make their voices heard. HSM is open to all students attending Radford University, regardless of the chosen major or prior experience. HSM also provides leadership experience and training for those looking to build a resume and gain first hand experience with communication skills, budgeting, teamwork, collaboration, and so much more! The Purpose of Student Media is to provide a valuable educational experience in media production and business to students, to disseminate news, information, arts, literature and/or entertainment to the University community, to serve as designated public forums for public debate, dialogue, ideas, and/or opinions, to record a lasting chronicle of events at Radford University, and to review and provide recommendations for endorsements for all policy approved by the Steering Committee ( i.e. Student Leader compensation, business policies, and procedure). All Highlander Student Media leaders are full-time students in good standing with the university and carry a minimum 2.25 grade point average and 2.5 grade point average in their major.
